Wied il-Bassasa is a small valley with a very specific landscape, sometimes referred to as "lunar" because of the rock cut with a lot of chasms and channels and very modest vegetation. It is a perfect place for extreme walks, requiring good shoes and physical condition, especially in hot summer. The coast at Wied il-Bassasa is popular with divers.
Reaching the dive site is only possible by boat - from the land side the rocks are too steep and inaccessible. The surroundings of Wied il-Bassasa are a reservoir with excellent visibility, rich in marine fauna and flora. The bottom begins at a depth of 10 m, and then descends to a depth of about 40 m with a very gentle slope. Larger and smaller rocks lying on the bottom are a shelter for many species of fish.
Being in Wied il-Bassas we can go to the Wardija Tower, which is one of the 14 watchtowers built in the years 1658-1659 by the Grand Master of the Knights of Saint Martin de Redin. The famous Blue Grotto is also nearby.
