Wied il-Għasri is a picturesque valley stretching from the town of G miejscowościasri to the sea, where it ends with high, very steep cliffs. In the upper parts it is a great place for walking and climbing. This place is valued by people looking for a secluded beach, and especially by snorkeling and diving enthusiasts.
In this part of the island, Wied il-Għasri provides the only accessible bathing spots from the mainland. The sea has not created beaches or gentle descent in the area - as on most parts of the Gozo shoreline. High, precipitous cliffs prevent reaching the sea from the land.
At the connection of the valley with the sea there is a natural cave with a shaft pierced from the top of the cliff. Water was used to fill the nearby salins - shallow, rock-cut pools in which sea water was evaporated to extract salt.
