The late Renaissance palace of the Radziwiłł family is located in the Old Town and is one of its most beautiful decorations. Moreover, it is the only surviving Renaissance palace in Vilnius. Inside, the Lithuanian Art Museum has its headquarters, displaying beautiful historic interiors and the history of this famous aristocratic family. Probably the wooden manor of Mikołaj "Czarny" Radziwiłł stood in the same place in the 16th century. The present building was built by order of Janusz Radziwiłł. For years neglected, and finally destroyed during World War I, it was restored at the end of the 20th century.
