Sacred Mount of Varallo

The religious sanctuary took about 100 years to build, with construction commencing in 1486. It includes approximately 44 chapels, filled with paintings and sculptures. The abbey was commissioned by Bernardino Caimi, who, after returning from Palestine, wanted to build a religious building in the shape of those in the Holy Land.
