Priamar Fortress

The fortress occupies the hills of the same name. It was built in 1542 by the Republic of Genoa on the headland where the Savona nucleus was located in the Middle Ages. The stronghold could hold up to 500 prisoners and was the main military prison in Italy until 1903, when Gaeta Castle took over its role.
