REGGIO DI CALABRIAItaly
Aragonese Castle
Local name: Castello Aragonese
Ruins of a medieval castle, of which two massive, round towers have survived to this day. It is called the Aragonese castle, but in fact it is much older than the reign of this dynasty in Calabria. The fortress has been standing here since ancient times, and in its place the Normans built their fortifications. It owes its present appearance to the reconstruction carried out by Ferdinand of Aragon in the mid-15th century.
