Museum located in the building of the former Prato town hall. It is a building consisting of three tenement houses that were joined together in the 14th century. This is evident in its architecture to this day.
The idea of establishing a museum with an art collection gathered by the owners of Prato appeared at the end of the 18th century. After several attempts and relocations to various buildings, in 1912 it found its place in Palazzo Pretorio. The museum's collections mainly include Italian paintings from the turn of the Gothic and Renaissance, as well as sculptures and 18th-century crafts.Less
