The archaeological park near Piombino is situated on a picturesque peninsula. It is an area where the Etruscan city of Populonia developed in antiquity. The park covers 4 areas, the first is the area of the city itself with the acropolis, the second covers the places where iron was smelted between the 6th and 3rd century BC, the third is the San Cerbone cemetery from around the 7th century BC, and the last part is Etruscan tombs carved in rocks from the 4th century -III century BC
