Via Monte Napoleone is an exclusive shopping street in the center of Milan. She is especially known for the huge selection of jewelry. There are also many trendy boutiques from top Italian fashion designers. You can enjoy coffee here at the iconic Caffe Cova, which has been in operation since 1817. The street name refers to the nineteenth century, when Milan was a peculiar capital of the Napoleonic Italian Republic. Along the street there are many architecturally interesting buildings, e.g. Casa Carcassola, Palazzo Gavazzi, Palazzo Melzi di Cusano, and Palazzetta Tarverna. The street was rebuilt in the neoclassical style at the beginning of the 19th century.
Via Monte Napoleone is often compared to the Paris Rue du Faubourg-Saint-Honore and London's Oxford Street.
