MAZARA DEL VALLOItaly
Cathedral of the Holy Savior
Local name: Cattedrale del Santissimo Salvatore
The cathedral was built in the 11th century, when Sicily was ruled by the Normans and it had the features of the Gothic style known from northern Europe. A thorough reconstruction in the 17th century gave it a new look, during which there were, among others, domes covered with blue tiles and a rich interior with stucco decorations and illusionist paintings.
