The museum is dedicated to finds from the area of the ancient settlement of Pithekoussai, founded by Greek colonizers around 770 BC. The collection numbers 10,000 exhibits. Among them are numerous amphoras and funeral urns. The most valuable is the so-called "Nestor mug from Ischia".
