Monastery of Saint James

Local name: Certosa San Giacomo Capri

The monastery was built in 1371 near the ruins of the Tiberius villa. Its founder was Giacomo Arcucci. In the 16th century, the pirate Barbarossa's invasion and fire caused serious damage to the building. In 1808 the order was closed. Currently, the building houses the City Library, a museum and a school.
