San Michele Tower

Local name: Torre San Michele

The tower is located in the historic center and dates back to 1691, when it was built to defend the city against the Turks and Saracens. At its top there was a torch that signaled robbers' attacks and defended the precious resource of salt. Today, the tower is the seat of the Tourist Information Office.
