Local name: Parco archeologico

The former Roman fort was a significant Lombard city in the Middle Ages. It was destroyed and abandoned in 1287. Today it is an archaeological park, famous for its early medieval frescoes in the small church of Santa Maria. They were not discovered until 1944. In 2011, the church was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
