Sanctuary of Santa Maria di Piazza

The sanctuary was built between 1515-1522. Inside, you can admire the statue of the Madonna with the Child, which, according to a local legend, stopped the deadly plague in 1630 (the Mother of God was said to have raised her right hand). The unexplained end of the epidemic was considered a miracle, and since then, Madonna has been called the Helpful Mother of God.
