The Konstancja Markiewicz Family Home is located in County Sligo, near the village of Ballinfull. It is a neoclassical stone building surrounded by beautiful gardens. The interiors are preserved in the condition from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. You can admire old furniture and landscape paintings, as well as a well-equipped library.
Konstancja Markiewicz was born into the Anglo-Irish Gore-Booth landed gentry family. She spent her childhood in County Sligo at Lissadell House. Her sister Eve lived here all her life. Konstancja met her husband, Count Dunin-Markiewicz while studying in Paris. After their wedding, they lived in Dublin, where Konstancja became involved in independence activities. She took part in the Easter Rising, led the defense of St Stephen's Green. He is one of the most recognizable figures in the Irish freedom movement.
The house of Konstancja Markiewicz and Eve Gore-Booth in County Sligo is now in private hands. It is available in the summer season. Its interiors have undergone a thorough renovation and they have been restored to the condition from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. There are, among others, paintings by Konstancja and her husband Kazimierz. Around the house you can see an alpine garden, shrub gardens and a collection of garden creepers.
