Farmleigh is a palace and park complex. It consists of buildings, extensive gardens, a pond and meadows and pastures adjacent to the property. The complex is open to tourists, while visiting the palace itself is only possible in organized groups with a guide. Seasonal events take place on the property, such as craft fairs, healthy food fairs, art workshops and concerts.
Farmleigh Palace was built in the mid-18th century. Initially, it was a small, Georgian-style, two-story house. In 1873 the property and the house were bought by Edward Guinness, great-grandson of Arthur Guinness, the founder of the Guinness brewery. He carried out a major renovation of the property, during which a third floor was added to it, and then a ballroom and a glass conservatory were added.
It is worth knowing that in the palace library there are some of the first printed books in Ireland.
