Local name: Svartifoss

The spectacular waterfall lies within the Skaftafell National Park and is 20 meters high. It is surrounded by black, basalt columns formed of cooling lava. Its name comes from them. The waterfall inspired the design of the National Theater and the Hallgramskirkja church in Reykjavik.
