The largest Greek seaport and one of the largest in Europe. It continues the tradition dating back to ancient times. Its main part includes freight transport. Passenger ships and ferries sailing to the Greek islands also come here, including the nearby Saronic Islands Saronic Islands which are a popular destination for weekend trips of the inhabitants of Athens.
