Lindos is a town picturesquely situated on one of the peninsulas of the island of Rhodes. At the foot of the well-preserved Acropolis, there are beautiful, clean beaches, which are perfect for a holiday vacation.

The town was founded in ancient times and was part of Heksapolis, a union of six cities that supported Sparta during the Peloponnesian Wars. According to the legends, in 58 AD to the shores of Rhodes reached this place by the ship where St. Paul. Today a small chapel stands in this place, and the Church Museum in Lindos presents a collection of religious art related to this event and the history of Christianity in Rhodes. In the Basilica of Our Lady adjacent to the museum, you can see 15th-century polychromes referring to the stay of St. Paul.

The greatest historical attraction of Lindos is the Acropolis with the preserved ruins of the Temple of Athena, the propylias and the Altar of Zeus. On the hill you can also see later buildings from the time when the island was under the rule of the Knights Hospitaller. The walls and the gatehouse come from these times.

Lindos is also a resort town. The local beaches are rocky and quite narrow, but combined with the stunning blue sea, they are highly appreciated by tourists. The most popular are Lindos Beach and St. Paul. The latter is located in the Bay of St. Paul, where, according to the legend, the apostle was to begin the Christianization of Rhodes.
