Turkish fortress towering over the buildings of Kavala. It was built in the fifteenth century on the site of an earlier Byzantine fortress and the walls of the ancient city. It is an irregularly shaped building covering an area of 13 ha. The walls with a height of up to 60 meters are reinforced with towers and defensive bastions
