Epidavros is a tiny village adjacent to one of the most important Greek archaeological sites. There is an ancient sanctuary of Asclepius with a huge, perfectly preserved ancient theater with remarkable acoustics.

Between the 6th and 4th centuries BC, Eidavros had the largest Sanctuary of the god Sklepios in the ancient world. It consisted of a complex of temples, a hospital, buildings for doctors who conducted their research here, buildings for sports and a theater. Games in honor of Asclepius combined with the staging of plays were held here.

Today, the archaeological site of Epidavros is one of the top tourist attractions in this part of Greece. Most tourists come here primarily to admire the Grand Theater of Ancient, characterized by acoustics unparalleled anywhere else. Next to it are the ruins of the Temple of Asclepius, Tholos, the Temple of Artemis and the remains of the Stadium of Epidaurus. Next to the excavations, there is the Archaeological Museum of Epidaurus, which displays items found during the excavations.
