Palamidi

Venetian fortress towering over Nafplio. For the Greeks it is one of the symbols of regaining independence. In 1821, it was recaptured at the hands of the Turks by a bold attack from the most defended, highest side. The buildings of the fortress surrounded by a double ring of walls now houses the Historical Museum. There is also a great view of the city and its surroundings.
