Roman Praetorium

Local name: Römisches Praetorium

Ruins of the Praetorium, i.e. the palace of the Roman governor of the province of Lower Germania. The palace was built in the 1st century AD. Its foundations and wall fragments have been preserved. The archaeological site in the basement of the town hall also includes the walls of the palace from the 4th century AD and the remains of buildings from the 8th century.
