The Köln Arcaden shopping center is located in the Kalk district and was founded in 2005 in the building of a former production plant. There are 130 stores on three levels of the center, including clothing, electronic and food. The gallery also has a fabric center, pharmacy, post office, playground and fan shop for the 1. FC Köln football club. A car park with over 1,800 spaces and numerous restaurants and cafes are also available to clients.
The industrial district of Kalk was known primarily from a large chemical factory located within it. Over time, the importance of industry for building an increasing number of residential premises and administrative headquarters.
Köln Arcaden is located at Kalker Hauptstraße and was the first shopping center in Cologne.
