THE MONT SAINT MICHELFrance
Saint-Aubert Chapel
Local name: Chapelle Saint-Aubert
The 12th-century Romanesque chapel was dedicated to Bishop Aubert of Avranches (670-725), the founder of the sanctuary of Mont Saint Michel. According to legend, the building was erected on a huge boulder, probably a former pagan menhir, which was thrown down here thanks to the miracle done by Aubert.
