THE RHUNE TRAIN IS CURRENTLY CLOSED.
OPENING MARCH 26, 2020.
The historic La Rhune cog railway is one of the main attractions of the Basque Country on the French side. It allows you to get to the top of La Rhune, often called the Holy Basque Mountain. The route still uses historic warehouses from the interwar period.
La Rhune lies on the border between France and Spain. Its peak offers a beautiful view of the Atlantic coast and the Pyrenees peaks. It has a height of 905 m above sea level. It is also the difference in height between its foot and the top. They are overcome in 35 minutes by a gear train launched in 1924. The ride is carried out in antique wagons, and travelers can enjoy beautiful views of the Pyrenean chain descending here.
