City Saint-Jean-de-Luz
Local name: Ville Saint-Jean-de-Luz
The picturesque seaside resort is located in a natural bay, near the Spanish border. There are well-kept, sandy beaches, swimming pools, hotels, casinos and golf courses. On the streets of Quai de L'Infante, Rue Mazarin, Rue Gambetta and Place Louis XIV you can also see many historic residences, mainly from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Numerous cultural and sporting events take place throughout the year. Among them are film festivals for young creators, a festival of surfing films, festivals of classical and traditional music. The annual international tuna fishing championships have also been held since 1953
People interested in history, especially during World War II, can go for a walk along the coast. There are remains of bunkers that were once part of the German Atlantic Wall.
