Built from the end of the 11th to the 15th century, the temple is considered a masterpiece of the Romanesque style, despite the loss of the main nave, which was demolished in 1803 as "outdated". The mutilation of the church resulted from the decision of Ferdinand Guillemardet, who four years later ended his life in a hospital for insane.
