The Statue of Liberty is located on the Swan Island on the Seine, near the Eiffel Tower. This is a copy of the statue given to the United States by France. It depicts a figure of a woman in long robes, with her hand raised in which she holds a torch.
The monument was unveiled in 1886. It was designed by Gustav Eiffel and the sculpture was made by Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi. The inspiration was Delacroix, "Freedom leading people to the barricades." The monument is 11.5 meters high and is four times smaller than the original. It stands on a high pedestal with an occasional plaque.
