Pigalle is located at the foot of Montmartre. He gave the name of the whole area, which was famous on the one hand as a hotbed of artists and Parisian bohemia, on the other as a district of brothels and cabarets. The square is dominated by buildings from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The famous French cabaret, Mulin Rouge, is nearby.
Since the times of 'Stake greater than life', Poles have known that 'the best chestnuts are on Pigalle Square', and 'Zuzanna likes them only in the fall'. So you can be a bit disappointed when there is not a single chestnut seller on the square. Instead, there are shops with erotic gadgets and underwear as well as musical instruments. There are also a lot of cabarets, bars with live music and restaurants in the area.
