The Exchange Bridge connects the island of La Cite with the right bank of the Seine. It was built in the second half of the nineteenth century. It is a stone structure composed of three arches. Its total length slightly exceeds 30 meters.
Currently, the existing bridge is the third crossing in this place. Its name comes from trade taking place on them since medieval times. Previous bridges were burning from the fire in merchant stalls. Therefore, on the new bridge, built in the time of Napoleon III, trade was completely banned.
The bridge was built according to the design of Romany and Vaudrey. Like all bridges built during the time of Napoleon III, it is decorated with the letter "N" surrounded by a laurel wreath.
