Phoenix Park is one of the most famous green areas in Nice. Located near the airport in the office district. On 7 hectares, there are twenty themed gardens, one of the largest greenhouses in Europe and a small zoo.
The park was opened in 1990. In its area you can see over 2,500 species of tropical and Mediterranean plants. They are grouped into themed gardens reflecting specific landscapes and climate types. The park also has a large pond, where wild ducks, swans and pelicans live.
The zoo in Phoenix Park primarily presents smaller animals such as tropical birds, monkeys, lemurs, koalas and many more. The modern Asian Art Museum building designed by Kenzo Tange is nearby. The most famous element of the park is the pyramid-shaped greenhouse, in which six types of tropical climate have been recreated, along with a characteristic floral pattern for each of its varieties.
