Moustiers-Sainte-Marie is a charming Provencal town at the mouth of the Verdon Gorge. It has well-preserved old buildings and an unusual location at the foot of a precipitous rock, as well as access to the beaches of Lake Saint-Croix.

The history of the city dates back to the 5th century, when the monks founded a monastery on the rock. Currently, the chapel of Notre-Dame de Beauvoir stands in its place, from where you can admire beautiful views of the surrounding area. In the center of the town, the most important building is the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption with a Romanesque shape. It is surrounded by old stone buildings and narrow streets, now full of restaurants and souvenir shops.

The city has been famous for the production of faience for several hundred years. Local manufactories produce ceramics from tiles to tableware. Their products can be bought on site, and in many workshops you can also watch craftsmen at work. There is also a Faience Museum in the city.

In addition to the historic attractions, Moustiers-Sainte-Marie also offers tourists beautiful landscapes, dazzling views and plenty of opportunities for active leisure. The area is cut by a network of hiking trails leading, for example, to the Riou waterfall and the gorge Verdon gorge. The place of summer vacation is the Beach on Lake Saint Croix. Both on the river and on the lake you can enjoy canoeing and other water sports.
