The 80-kilometer aqueduct from 1685 was built on the order of Louis XIV - it was to supply the fountains in Versailles with water from the Eure River. A structure consisting of 47 arcades of the first row, 195 of the second and 390 of the third was designed. The wars that were waged at that time made it impossible to complete the works.
