The palace from 1902 was built by Eugène Bardou, grandson of Jean Bardou, the producer of JOB cigarettes. Over the years, the building served as a maternity hospital run by the Red Cross. Children of refugees after the Spanish Civil War, and during World War II, Jews and Roma were born here. Today, the hospital is a museum and memorial site.
