Tranchée Des Baïonnettes

Local name: Tranchée Des Baïonnettes

In this place, according to the legend, French soldiers were buried alive, standing during the Battle of Verdun in 1916. This course of events was evidenced by rifles with bayonets protruding from the ground. Historians have proven that the trench is really a mass grave, and the rifles were left by the Germans to mark the place of burial.
