The former tannery where Louis Pasteur (1822-1895) was born is now a museum dedicated to his family and scientific achievements. The tannery vats of the eminent microbiologist's father have been preserved in the basement, and an exhibition of his scientific achievements was organized on the first floor, including the development of a vaccine against rabies and a method of food pasteurization.
