Saltworks of Arc-et-Senans

Royal salt mines were built in the second half of the 18th century according to the design of Claude Nicolas Ledoux. The semicircular complex consists of a representative office, industrial pavilions and residential houses. The whole has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
