Local name: Statue de Vercingétorix
The equestrian statue depicts Vercingetorix, a Gallic commander who defeated the Roman army commanded by Julius Caesar in 52 BC at the Battle of Gergow. The monument was made of bronze in 1903. Its author was Auguste Bartholdi, creator of the Statue of Liberty in New York.
