Liberation Museum
Local name: Musée de la Libération
Existing since 1954, the museum is devoted to the history of World War II, and in particular to the Battle of Cherbourg fought on June 6-30, 1944 by American and German forces. The museum is located in an 18th-century fort, which was the most strategically important facility liberated by the Americans.
