St. Peter's Church in Chartres

Local name: Église Saint-Pierre de Chartres

The magnificent Romanesque-Gothic building was built in the 12th century on the ruins of a Romanesque cathedral destroyed by the Normans from the first centuries AD. The oldest part is a tower from before 1000. The temple is famous for its huge, well-preserved 14th-century stained glass windows.
