Saint-Pierre de Baume Abbey
Local name: Abbaye Saint-Pierre de Baume
The Benedictine abbey of Saint-Pierre de Baume was probably founded in the 6th century, and then expanded at the end of the 9th century. It houses a valuable triptych from the 16th century, considered to be one of the most important works of Flemish art of that time. It is also worth paying attention to the 15th-century statue of St. Michael, whose authorship is attributed to Claus de Werve.
Currently, the Abbey of Saint-Pierre de Baume is transformed into a museum. There is a projection room and numerous audiovisual panels presenting the history of the abbey and the results of archaeological research.
