Oulu Cathedral is located in the city center. It was built in 1777 on the site of an older, wooden temple from the beginning of the 17th century. The present neoclassical appearance of the temple is the result of the reconstruction after a fire that destroyed a large part of the building in 1822. The cathedral can be visited alone or in groups with a guide. The crypt also houses a small cafe for tourists.
