Snellman Park is located in the center of Kuopio - it was established in the mid-19th century on the site of the city's former main square. Birches, European larches, maples and lindens grow there. Among the alleys there are numerous flower beds and a picturesque fountain. In 2019, the park was renovated in accordance with the design from the 1950s.
Snellman Park is named after a famous Finnish national and social activist. His bust, by Johannes Takanen, was unveiled in the park in July 1886. It was then that the park was renamed.
