Rajec nad Svitavou Castle
Local name: Zámek Rájec nad Svitavou
The castle in Rajec nad Svitava is a Rococo-Classicist seat of the noble Salm family. It is a three-winged building open towards the extensive garden. Adjacent to the square are farm buildings. Some castle rooms are open to the public. You can see here a huge library arranged in the style of the Empire, as well as the interiors of the rooms, which contain, inter alia, a porcelain collection.
The first castle in this place was built already in the fourteenth century. Over the following years, it passed through the hands of various families, until in 1763 it was bought by the Salm family. He owned them continuously until the end of World War II. Currently, her descendants are seeking recovery.
The castle built by Salmów is modeled on French baroque residences from the Baroque period. The two-story building is covered with a mansard roof. The entrance with the break is protected by a triple arcade. The castle interiors contain a large part of the original furniture and knick knacks from the Salma collection. On the walls you can see graphics that family representatives brought from traveling around Europe. Nature collections about the nearby region of the Czech Karst are also shown here.
