Kuks Hospital is a Baroque holiday complex in the Elbe Valley founded in the early 18th century by Count František Antonín Šporek who discovered healing mineral springs here. On the initiative of Špork, a spa house, a monastery with a hospital for the poor and war veterans, a tavern and a theater were created. The construction of the center was commissioned to the most famous European Baroque artists, including Mateusz Bernard Braun. Kuks has become one of the most popular resorts of the European nobility.
Currently, exhibitions at the Kuks Hospital are exhibitions of the pharmacy museum and gallery of Czech wines. The tour also includes restored wall paintings from the "Dance of Death" series - 50 paintings expressing the equality of all people in the face of death. The hospital also has sculptures of Mateusz Bernard Braun (the leading baroque sculptor in the Czech Republic). There is also a small theater and hotel complex. Throughout the year, many cultural events take place here, including: Museum Night, Church Night, Open Garden Weekend, Musical Summer Kuks concert series, Vintage and Advent Fairs.
