Karlova Koruna Castle
Local name: Zámek Karlova Koruna
The baroque Karlova Koruna castle was built by the Kinski family. He was their representative seat, and now it has returned to the heirs. It is an irregularly shaped building. Around the central round hall there are three wings with passing rooms. The building has no corridors. The interiors along with the original design are open to the public.
The castle was built in 1721-1723. Its designer was Giovanni Santini-Aichl, and the work was managed by Frantisek Maximilian Kanka. They created a building whose projection resembled a royal crown. Hence part of his name. However, the name of the Crown of Charles received the castle after the emperors Charles VI, who visited here on the hunt in 1723.
At present Karlova Koruna is again in the hands of the Kinski family. The castle has been renovated. It can be rented for parties or weddings. Some of the representative rooms with original furniture and an exhibition about the Kinski family and their importance in Czech history have been made available to tourists.
