The Tugendhat Villa in Brno by the German architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe is an example of modernist architecture. Tourists can visit its interiors, the equipment was made of the highest quality natural materials, e.g. onyx and mahogany. In 2001 it was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
It was built in the 1930s on a 2000 m² plot. The interior of the building with equipment was designed by Mies and Lilly Reich, it is spacious and lit by natural light. The villa's windows overlook the greenery and the Old Town.
The project used innovative assumptions at that time. The villa is a three-story building. Because it was built on a fairly large slope, only the top floor is visible from the front, the main entrance to the building is on it. The other two, lower floors are accessible from the garden.
