The Orthodox cathedral was built in the city center after the end of the Russo-Turkish war and Bulgaria regained independence. Although it was consecrated as early as 1886, its construction lasted until the middle of the 20th century. It is the largest temple in Varna and the third largest cathedral in the country.
The cathedral has a collection of 50 small icons and 3 large images of saints that were donated to the temple as a gift from the Russian Tsar Nicholas II. You can also see the stained glass windows depicting St. Cyril and Methodius and St. Clement and Angelarius of Ohrid. They were made in the 1960s.
The church houses the hierarchy's throne, made in 1897 by the sculptor Nico Mavrodi. During the tour, it is also worth paying attention to the iconostat, a carved pulpit and a floor covered with multicolored tiles.
